Motherhood is...

Trusting

This is my last week at home with Leah before I go back to work. I can't believe how fast it has gone and how much I do not want to go back. I have cried almost daily and have been up till almost 2 for a couple of nights { Leah sleeping mind you} just thinking. I love what I do and miss seeing patients, but Leah is my priority right now. I have been telling myself over and over that she is going to be fine with her grandmas/dad watching her while I am away, but they are not me, not her mom. I have compiled notes on how Leah does everything - felt kinda like a crazy mom, but it made me feel better. I showed Adam "our" little routine so that she {me really} will feel like nothing is different. I showed him how "we" talk while she is getting dressed in the morning {also wrote it down for g-mas}. The time has come and with every other stage we will make it through. PLUS its only 7 days and then mom is back!

As for this weeks picture - Adam picked her up and she was hugging daddy. I took it in apperature priority {not manual mode yet, but not automatic}. It has some light issues, but I love it.

Good Mornings!

Every time {almost every time} Leah wakes up in the morning, I say "Good morning" and this is the response I get. It makes my day to see her face light up. I will miss these good mornings when I go back to work, but for now I am LOVIN them. I am teaching Adam to say it to her so that she still hears it when I am not at home. - I cheated though this picture was when she was waking up from a nap AND she was in her crib.

On a photography note...I played with the manual mode this week a little bit.

Motherhood is...

Simple

I spend a lot of time on the computer searching for toys that will stimulate her little mind. This week I learned that turning on the fan in our bedroom works just as well. She may not be able to touch it and learn to grip/feel textures but it sure makes her happy {not every toy has to be educational right}

Motherhood is...

Taking care of her when she is sick!

We are tackling are first "semi" cold. I say semi because it almost seems its just allergies {do babies even have allergies}. She has been congested for the past two days and sleeps almost all day. We have mastered the booger sucker and used the humidifier {plus the shower steam}. We have also had vomiting- which has required both of us to change close several times AND the sheets. Despite feeling bad she still smiles and makes everything worth it.

Motherhood is...

Fatherhood too!

The day I became a mother, my husband also became a father. Very early on, I knew that Adam would make a great dad. I knew he would not be the "not interested till she can walk/talk" kinda dad. He was absolutely amazing in the hospital, taking care of both her and I. I think he changed every single diaper while we were there. In the first few weeks home, he would take Leah and make me {and I mean make me} go get some rest. And now that she is cooing/smiling its so fun to watch them together. I cant wait to see their bond grow in the coming years. I know that I could never do this without him and would not want to do it with anyone else.
